발병

말더듬의 발병은 보통 아동기에 발생하며, 일부 발달성 말더듬 사례는 사춘기까지 발생합니다. 발병의 중앙 연령은 약 4세입니다. 사춘기 이후에 발생하는 발병은 보통 극심한 신체적 또는 심리적 외상에 기인합니다.

The onset of stuttering usually occurs during childhood, with some cases of developmental stuttering occurring up through the time of puberty. The median age at onset is at about age four. Onset occurring after puberty is usually attributable to extreme cases of physical or psychological trauma.
